Green Learning Community
From GreenQuadWiki
What/Where
The Green Learning Community (GLC) Is an Innovative, experimental group of 25-30 students who are helping to define sustainability for future generations. The students live on the same floor within the Green Quad Residence Hall where they take the initiative in and out of the classroom, to experiment with the personal, cultural, and environmental changes required for a more environmentally-friendly society. Students in the GLC have the opportunity to cultivate and participate in projects of their own design. They take field trips to places and events of interest, including national parks, coastal preserves, ecovillaqes, recycling plants, and regional and national student conferences. The GLC also gets together for frequent community gatherings organized by students including dinners and game nights: informal meetings with faculty members, visiting scholars, and activists: and ongoing service and research endeavors. All these activities are an integral part of a one-credit course GLC students take each semester, UNIV 290B.
